SUMMARY

This position provides instruction to students and performs a wide variety of tasks with curriculum planning, supervision, presenting and reinforcing learning concepts, and teaching students in a classroom setting.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. DUTIES:
    1. Possess skills at interpretation of assessment data to drive instruction.
    2. Review data to make instructional decisions to address student weaknesses.
    3. Prepare and deliver focused reading intervention instruction in a small group setting.
    4. Possess knowledge in reading intervention strategies and actual implementation.
    5. Utilize instructional management systems which increases student learning and
    maximizes time on task.
    6. Monitor student progress towards achieving instructional objectives and goals on the
    Intervention Plans or IEPs.
    7. Be familiar with the MTSS process and Multi-Tiered Instruction.
    8. Communicate effectively within the educational community and with parents on a regular
    basis.
    9. Collaborate with the assigned classroom teacher(s) for instructional planning and
    delivery.
    10. Monitor and maintain accurate records on student achievement, articulating the progress
    and success.
    11. Provide explicit, scientifically based instruction to small groups of students.
    12. Assist in the scheduling and assignment of students to the program.
    13. Implement the assigned program of study.
    14. Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning.
    15. Promote and maintain positive pupil-teacher-parent relationships.
    16. Possess a strong commitment to help all children succeed.
    17. Adhere to the teacher code of conduct.
    18. Maintain professional work habits.

    19. Perform other duties as assigned by the School Principal.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Teaching certificate for the particular position as required by the State.
  2. Must be familiar with the use of computers including but not limited to electronic mail, the Internet, word processing, and electronic spreadsheets (Microsoft Office).
  3. Establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships with those contacted in the course of work (students, parents, and staff).
  4. Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.
  5. Ability to communicate to students, parents and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner.
  6. Reading Specialist/Math endorsement preferred.

SCHEDULING

The classroom teacher’s schedule is subject to change with district demands in compliance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
